# Open source and self-hosting

The tools agents use on your site come from [agentprose](https://github.com/vibeprogrammer/agentprose), an open-source library under the MIT license. agentprose Cloud adds analytics and hosted search on top. You can use the library without an account.

## The library on its own

```html
<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/agentprose@0.1/dist/agentprose.min.js" defer></script>
```

With no configuration it reads your page, your `agentprose.json`, your feeds, your sitemap and your `llms.txt` in the visitor's browser, and registers the same WebMCP tools. No backend and no account. You don't get the dashboard or hosted search.

## Static index with the CLI

For large static sites, build the index at deploy time:

```bash
npx agentprose build public --base-url https://example.com/ --llms
npx agentprose inspect https://example.com/some-post/
```

`build` writes `agentprose.json`, one Markdown file per post and, with `--llms`, an `llms.txt`. `inspect` shows what agents can read on a live page and gives it an agent-readiness score.

## In your own code

```bash
npm install agentprose
```

`createAgentTools()` lets you pick an adapter (WordPress, Ghost, Sanity, Contentful, Strapi, Storyblok, Enonic), add your own tools and send tool-call events to any analytics. See the library's README.

## This site uses it too

agentprose Cloud runs its own script on these pages and publishes its docs as [agentprose.json](https://agentprose.cloud/agentprose.json), an [Atom feed](https://agentprose.cloud/docs/feed.xml) and [llms.txt](https://agentprose.cloud/llms.txt). Open any docs page with `?agentprose-inspect` to see the tools.
