How agentprose compares
Where agentprose fits among tools for AI agents. MCP-B, action tools like OpenHermit, server-side search like NLWeb and Cloudflare AI Search, docs platforms, and WordPress plugins, compared on what agents can do and where it runs.
Many tools now promise to make a website “ready for AI agents”. They answer two questions differently: what the agent gets to do (read your content, or take actions like filling in forms) and where it runs (in the reader’s page, or on a server).
agentprose helps agents read your site and quote it correctly. It runs in the page, works on any CMS, and needs no server.
MCP-B: the runtime underneath
MCP-B is an open-source toolkit for WebMCP, the draft web standard that lets a page offer tools to AI agents. It provides a polyfill for browsers without WebMCP, a runtime, transports, React hooks and a relay to desktop apps. Developers use it to write their own tools.
MCP-B gives your site the WebMCP runtime. agentprose gives it something to say: ready-made tools to search, read and cite your posts, with no code. They work together. agentprose can use the MCP-B polyfill in browsers that don’t have WebMCP yet.
Action tools: forms, bookings, checkout
Some tools, such as OpenHermit, turn your forms and widgets into agent tools so an AI can fill in a contact form or start a booking. That’s useful for lead and booking flows.
agentprose does the other half. Those tools make agents act on your site; agentprose makes agents read and quote it correctly. Every agentprose tool is read-only. It never fills in or submits anything, and it sends nothing at all until an agent actually uses a tool, so ordinary visitors cause no extra requests. You can run both side by side.
Server-side search: NLWeb, Cloudflare AI Search, Algolia
NLWeb with Cloudflare AI Search and Algolia’s MCP server index your content and answer agents from a server endpoint, inside their platforms.
agentprose works in the page, in the reader’s own browser, on the page they are looking at. You don’t deploy an endpoint, and it works on any CMS or static site. agentprose Cloud adds a hosted index and analytics when you want them, but the tools work without it.
Docs platforms: Mintlify and GitBook
Mintlify and GitBook generate MCP servers for docs they host. If your docs live there, that’s built in. agentprose is for everything else: blogs, magazines, company sites and docs on your own stack.
WordPress plugins
On WordPress, plugins such as WebMCP Bridge register post-search tools. agentprose also works on WordPress (through the REST API), and on Ghost, Sanity, Contentful, Strapi, Storyblok, Enonic and static sites. It adds full articles in pages, sections, and quotes that are checked against the post with a link that highlights the passage.
